For some reason, I find this very impressive. The band Skillet, who sings Awake and Alive -- a song I just heard for the first time on the radio the other day -- is... well let me back up.
When I first heard the song, I was trying to figure out who was singing it because the (male) lead vocalist's voice, as well as that of the (female) backup vocalist, sounded very familiar but I couldn't put my finger on it. To me, the male voice sounded kind of like a mix between Chad Kroeger of Nickelback and Scott Stapp of Creed, while the female voice sounded kind of like a mix between Nina Gordon of Veruca Salt, Amy Lee of Evanescence, and Avril Lavigne of... herself.
Turns out I was completely wrong on all counts. The lead and backup vocalists are two people I'd never heard of, and I think the "impressive" part comes with the fact that the two of them are actually husband and wife. Moreover, the chick is also the band's drummer.
I guess it's not that big a deal but like I said, for some reason, I find it impressive (or maybe a better word would be "admirable"). Here's the video for Awake and Alive, which you can also find on their website:
